Cupertino/West San Jose preschool · Ages 2 and up
You want two things for your child: real learning and a happy childhood. For nearly thirty-five years, Starbright families have had both, and the rarest thing of all, peace of mind. The classrooms are brand new in 2025, bright, calm, and built around how young children learn. The care never changed.
The amount of care that our son has received here is exceptional.

One enrollment decision at age two can carry your child through third grade. Each stage builds on the last, and the next teacher is already down the hall.
A warm, structured start where letters, numbers, art, and friendships all take root together.
Learn moreA launchpad year that builds confidence across reading, writing, math, science, history, and even civics.
Learn moreStudents learn to understand, not memorize: Singapore Math, Spanish from first grade, and a Study Hall that gets most schoolwork done before pickup.
Learn moreMy son is going into middle school and doing well, I credit this school for establishing a good foundation from the ages of 2-6!
The Starbright Approach
A child does not grow in subjects. Mind, body, heart, and imagination feed each other, so we teach the four as one. Watch a student find courage on our stage, and you will see it again the next morning, in a hand raised at circle time. That is the whole idea of Starbright: every part of your child, growing together.
The school is highly dedicated to helping all of its children to develop into well-rounded, curious, and friendly students ready to take on the world.
All four, every single day.
One morning can hold a number puzzle, a paintbrush, a running game, and a friend to sit beside. Our teachers plan for every part of it.
Logic, analysis, information processing, and a lasting desire to learn.
Visual art, music, dance, and theater woven into daily learning.
Coordination, health, movement, and active play throughout the day.
Daily social-emotional learning builds empathy, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence in community.

Learning in action
Real learning weaves the day together: numbers, letters, and big questions share the schedule with art, music, movement, and play. Many of our teachers have taught at Starbright for over twenty years. They have welcomed hundreds of first mornings, and they know how to make a new school feel like a second home.
My son started loving reading and math within 4 months of attending the school.
Since 1992
Alla Ushomirsky, a lifelong teacher, opened Starbright in 1992 with just six students. Nearly thirty-five years later, thousands of students have grown up here. Some of them are parents themselves now, and they walk their own children through the same doors, back to the school they remember as a highlight of their childhood.
They put their heart and soul into this school. And it shows. They care for every child as if they were their own.

We recently reimagined both campuses top to bottom, and every classroom is purpose-designed for the age it serves. Nothing in the room is accidental. Each shelf, color, and corner is chosen to serve learning and play alike, to stimulate without distracting, and to help children feel comfortable, learn, and grow. Starbright families come from many cultures and backgrounds, and parents often tell us the school became a second family to them. Visit our San Jose Campus or Campbell Campus and feel it for yourself.

I was able to connect with many of the parents here, who come from all over the world.
